Love to Love You, Baby

In the 1980's, I worked in a Catholic hospital run by Irish nuns. One day as I scrubbed my kitchen floor on my hands and knees, BLASTING Donna Summer's "Love to Love You, Baby" on my stereo, Sister Rose called to ask if I would come in on my day off and work. She heard my music and tsk-tsked me. Said she'd pray for me. I told her I'd pray for her, too.

She hung up on me.

As my friend Seedy so brilliantly observed, "nuns and the disco era didn't mix well."

My friend Linc wondered if I went in to work. It was a Catholic hospital; of course I went in to work! How could I have lived with the guilt if I'd refused Sr. Rose's request? I was cheeky and irreverent, not heartless. ~~GH
